Poland: Opposition party protests with live PIGS outside Parliament

08.10.2015
Four pigs representing each of the leading parliamentary parties were put on display in front of the Polish Parliament in Warsaw on Thursday, as part of an election stunt organised by the populist opposition party KORWiN (Coalition for the Renewal of the Republic - Freedom and Hope). The recently founded party, headed by the controversial MEP Janusz Korwin Mikke, is currently polling at 7% as the Polish parliament sits for its last session prior to the election. KORWiN Party MP Przemysław Wipler spoke at the event, telling attendees: "These pigs are symbolic of the Polish political class. That's how MPs are seen, how politicians are seen by millions of Poles. More than half of Poles do not vote, because of how they perceive politicians and politics. They sees politics as a struggle over the food trough, for money for a selected group of politicians and those surrounding them."
