NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Armenian Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Wednesday, to discuss bilateral relations, future cooperation as well as regional security.
During the North Atlantic Council (NAC) meeting Stoltenberg thanked Armenian officials for the contributions to NATO's missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo. He also stressed Armenia's commitment to the NATO Building Integrity Programme and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security adopted in 2000.
On Thursday, NATO Desk Officer for the South Caucuses Steffen Elgersma stated that "we appreciate Armenia's long-term participation in the NATO-led international peacekeeping operations and commitment for continuation" during a discussion titled "Armenia-NATO Relations: Prospects and Challenges ahead of the NATO Warsaw Summit" in Armenian capital Yerevan.
The cooperation between the Alliance and Armenia is regulated by the Individual Partnership Action Plan signed in 2005.
