Hundreds of trade union members took to the streets of Brussels on Friday, as part of a nationwide general strike against the federal government’s pension reform.
Protesters represented different trade unions, with those wearing green vests being from the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (CSC), blue vests from the Free Public Service Union (SLFP) and red vests from the General Federation of Belgian Labour (FGTB).
People held numerous placards and banners in defiance of the new pension reform which includes raising the retirement age from 65 to 67 years, while demanding better severance payments.
