Police set up cordons and evacuated up to 1,000 homes in Bath after a suspected unexploded World War II bomb was discovered at a former school, Friday.
The evacuees spent Thursday night away from their homes, in Bath Racecourse, where they will spend 48 hours while the authorities attempt to remove the bomb. A 300 metre (984 foot) exclusion zone was set up around the school at Lansdown Road.
The 500 pound (228 kilo) bomb was found at the former Royal High Junior School, just one metre beneath a playground.
