15.06.2016
An alleged former body guard of Osama bin Laden was granted not to be deported to his native homeland of Tunisia on Wednesday, after a court hearing in Gelsenkirchen decided that he may face mistreatment and possible torture if transferred to the North African country.
Commenting on the case, Vice-President of the Administrative Court in Gelsenkirchen Karsten Herfort said that the defendant is accused of being a member of "Al-Qaeda" and having received "military training in Afghanistan." He went on to add that he can’t be evicted to Tunisia as he may be “mistreated or even tortured."
Referred to as 'Sami A,' the 39-year old denies any involvement with the militant organisation and any connection with their former leader Osama bin Laden.
