10.08.2015
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders addressed his supporters during a campaign rally in the Moda Centre in Portland, Oregon, Sunday. During his speech, Sanders vowed to fight "institutional racism" if elected, as well as to tackle childhood poverty in the US, which has "the highest rate on any major country on Earth," Sanders said. Speaking on the Iran nuclear deal, the Democratic candidate said that although "I can't promise that the agreement will work, we should give the process a chance before going to war." The Portland rally was one of many scheduled during Sanders' West Coast presidential campaign tour. Bernie Sanders has become a leading voice on issues connected with social justice, such as income inequality and climate change, and has been particularly critical of the mass surveillance policies carried out by US government.
