Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller arrived in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Thursday, in a bid to advance energy cooperation between Russia and Bolivia.
At the ceremony, Miller donated the Bolivian government a Kamaz truck, which works on diesel and liquefied natural gas (LNG), saying "I am confident that this present is very symbolic," and adding "[with] our joint efforts, we will contribute to the socio-economic development of Bolivia."
Bolivian President Evo Morales, Bolivian ministers and representatives of a number of oil companies operating in the country were in attendance of the ceremony.
Later in the week, Miller is expected to join Morales at the opening of a natural gas plant in Incahuasi, an enterprise of the oil company Total in partnership with Gazprom and Tecpetrol.
This was the second official visit by Miller to Bolivia this year. In February, Miller visited the southern city of Tarija where he met with Bolivian officials on hydrocarbon cooperation, dubbed by the Bolivian Government as the Bolivia-Russia Energy Summit and struck agreements on cooperation in gas exploration, technology sharing and the construction of a research centre designated for processing diesel into liquefied natural gas, among others.
