Around 2,500 people took part in a solidarity rally outside the French consulate in Hamburg, Wednesday, to commemorate the victims of last Friday's attacks in Paris. The rally comprised of political leaders, Islamic union members and local residents of Hamburg. Alongside French flags, people waved Kurdish flags and flags with the peace symbol, symbolising unity and solidarity with the victims of attacks in Paris and across the world. The event proceeded a minutes silence followed by a speech from Hamburg's mayor Olaf Scholz, who stated that "refugees come to us, because they value our tolerance for religion and because they wanted to get to safety from exactly those terrorists." A heavy deployment of Police were on site throughout the demo after reports of a serious bomb scare disrupted proceedings at an international football friendly between Germany and the Netherlands in Hannover, yesterday. At least 129 people were killed and more than 349 left injured 99 critically, after a series of coordinated attacks were carried out at six different locations across Paris last Friday evening.
