Some 27 refugees started working as volunteers to clean the parks, streets, walls painted with graffiti and other spots of the city of Turin, Saturday.
This initiative come within the frame of a new project to accommodate the refugees in the city by giving them a job and chances to learn Italian language as well. Some of them met the Mayor of Turin Piero Fassino who said that “it's a way which allows refugees to give something back to the city, which helped them by welcoming them.”
Around 3,000 refugees are currently living in Turin hosted in care centers. Reportedly, they are taking one Italian lesson every day and when asked, they express their desire of settling in the city.
