Deputy MP of the Pirate Party Halldora Mogensen talked to the press in Reykjavik on Friday, one day ahead of Iceland's parliamentary elections. According to the latest polls, the Pirates are expected to get around 20 percent of the votes.
Mogensen explained that the Pirate Party was about "redistributing power", regardless of political leanings; whether a person is "right or left" they will have voice in the party. She believes that one of the reasons why Pirate Party is doing well in the polls is because it is seen as "a breath of fresh air". The Deputy MP added that "people are tired of corruption but people haven't had any alternatives and now they have an alternative".
The anti-establishment party is ahead in the latest polls of the elections, which were called after the removal of former Prime Minister Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson following the Panama Papers leak scandal. The event involved several high ranking Icelandic government officials.
