Germany: Freiburg boss Fritz Keller accepts nomination to stand for DFB presidency

[and thought], if the others believe I can improve things and bring about the good, then I will happily do it. And this morning and this afternoon I had a golden approval [from the amateur and professional associations], but above all, what I say is that the discussion about the conditions, in the next few weeks, with the findings commission and with all the relevant people who have been spoken with, for me I am convinced, as I have said, that together we will achieve that; and this is above all my motto: only cooperation moves us forward."

SOT, Fritz Keller, candidate for presidency of German Football Association (DFB) (German): "We have one football community, there is one football community in Germany, after all, in which the president of the DFL and the DFB vote, and this office also readily sees this, and from the lower leagues to the youth leagues, through all the amateur leagues, to the Bundesliga, to the national team, they belong together. And this spirit I have seen in the last week, like when the DFL and the DFB worked together, I can say that in this spirit, these tasks [of German football] can be undertaken."

Fritz Keller accepted the German Football Association (DFB)'s decision to nominate him as the organisation's new president, at a press conference in Berlin on Wednesday.
The DFB findings commission last week nominated the SC Freiburg boss as the sole candidate for the role. Since then the German amateur and professional associations have voted in favour of Keller's candidacy.
"Above all my motto: only cooperation moves us forward," Keller said in the German capital.
The 62-year-old will stand for election in Frankfurt am Main on September 27 at a gathering of the DFB.
