NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg held a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, Wednesday, concluding his first official visit to the west European country. Topics of conversation between the two politicians included the ongoing migrant and refugee crisis, the Crimea conflict, international terrorism, specifically the fight of NATO member Turkey against the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL). Stoltenberg stressed that all three crises are going to be dealt with by the NATO through "defence capacity building", he said it is "very important, because it is a way for the NATO to help other countries to increase their capacity to defend themselves." "If our neighbours are more stable, we are more secure," he said. Stoltenberg also underlined that the NATO will address the "challenges from the east and the south by adapting to new security environment, by increasing the redness and preparedness of the forces." He continued saying that the allies are "doubling the size of the NATO redness forces and we are establishing a new speeded force." Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel is scheduled to visit both Russia and Ukraine in the upcoming weeks, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to encourage dialogue between the two countries.
