The Parliamentary board of Catalonia was constituted at the Catalan Parliament in Barcelona on Wednesday, with Republican Catalan Left (ERC) member Roger Torrent elected as president of the legislature.
After former board president Carme Forcadell's resignation, ERC MP Ernest Maragall took the position of interim bureau president during the voting session.
Maragall opened the assembly with a strongly worded statement against the Spanish government. "The Spanish government doesn't want to know anything about reconciliation or about shared sovereignties. Power is possessed, and it is not granted one bit, and even less to Catalonia. The Spanish government doesn't know how to win, it knows how to defeat. It doesn't know how to share, it knows how to humiliate and punish."
After two rounds of voting, Roger Torrent was elected as the Catalan board president.
