Iran's naval forces conducted large-scale drills covering parts of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Indian Ocean, Wednesday. The section of the operation is reported to be the main stage of their major military manoeuvres which commenced on January 21 and is shown by footage acquired from Iranian media.
The main stage contained defensive manoeuvres and those which included the simulation of interception of invaders while on board surface vessels and submarines. Additional military units, such as surface-to-sea missile launchers, snipers, rocket launchers, commandos, were also used during the drills. Iran's Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari claimed that these drills have taken place to prove Iran's capability to "establish security in the region for ourselves and world countries and there's no need for the presence of others"
These drills are considered the biggest ones by the Iranian Navy and are carried out under the code-name 'Velayat 94' and cover area of around 3 million square kilometers.
