There were heavy clashes in Sao Paulo on Wednesday evening between anti-Temer protesters and police, the nights after the Brazilian senate voted 61-20 in favour of removing President Dilma Rousseff from office to face an impeachment trial.
Violence erupted as police fired tear gas at protesters, who smashed bus stops and started fires in the street. Huge anti-Temer banners were on display as hundreds marched in support of ousted President Rousseff.
Former Vice President Michel Temer has been acting leader since Rousseff was suspended following a Senate vote on May 12.
On August 10, a majority of senators voted to proceed with the impeachment trial. Rousseff faces charges that her administration broke government budget laws in order to support her re-election in 2014. The former Brazilian President maintained her innocence in the months running up to the trial, and accused government opposition of staging a coup.
