Panama: Not jailing people if they disagree with you is "right idea" - Obama

US President Barack Obama said that the idea of "not jailing people if they disagree with you, is the right idea" during a speech at the Summit of the Americas in Panama City, Saturday. Obama said that "if we believe in democracy that means that everybody has the chance to speak out and offer their opinions" and "organise and assemble as they believe is appropriate." He went on to state that, in his opinion, the US speaks out on certain issues, "not because we're interested in meddling, but because we know from our own history - it's precisely because we're imperfect." Obama and President of the Council of State of Cuba Raul Castro shook hands, Friday before the opening ceremony of the summit.
