The San Francisco Airport has banned the sale of plastic water bottles, a measure which went into effect on Tuesday as part of the airport's efforts to become the first zero-waste airport by 2021.
Footage shows the new airport approved glass bottles sold at concession stands as well as water fountains for those travelling with reusable water bottles.
"There's so much garbage that's going around, so I think banning this whole situation is great for the environment. I see so much garbage going in and out every day so I think it's great," said Will, a flight attendant.
The ban involves single use containers such as plastic bottles or sealed boxes for purified water, carbonated or sparkling water, mineral water and electrolyte-enhanced water, though soda and other drinks are still sold in plastic bottles.
