Russian President Vladimir Putin and UK Prime Minister David Cameron agreed that Russia and the UK should cooperate to "defeat" terrorism during their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 in Antalya, Monday. Putin stated that "we are glad that Great Britain joined the Vienna format and the latest tragic events, including those in France, prove that we must unite our efforts in fighting against evil, such as terrorism," adding that "unfortunately, our bilateral relations are not at their best. However, we see some revival in the activity of our intergovernmental commissions." The Russian president thanked the UK prime minister for having expressed his condolences over the Russian charter plane crash which claimed the lives of 224 people in the Sinai. David Cameron responded saying "it is clear to me that we must work together to defeat the scourge of terrorism." The UK prime minister added that terrorism is "a threat to Britain, a threat to Russia, a threat to us all." Earlier, the Russian president met with the leaders of China, Germany, Turkey, and Italy to discuss various issues, including the Syrian and Ukrainian crises.
