Belgium: China helps Greece to secure euro and the Greek place in it - Keqiang

China's Premier Li Keqiang explained his country's position on the Greek debt crisis as he spoke at the EU-China summit, in Brussels, Monday. Keqiang said that while the eurozone crisis is an internal issue to Europe, it has an effect on global finance, and therefore requires China to have close relations with the Greek state for the good of "European Unity." Keqiang explained that "China has made it's own efforts to help Greece overcome the debt crisis and several times, China has taken real actions to respond to the concerns and requests of the Greek government, because we want Greece to do well and hope to see a united European Union." Although Keqiang made no mention of a formal loan to Greece or a change in Greece's creditor relations, Greece is an important partner for Chinese trade and future relations. The Silk Road plan, for example, considers Greece a vital port into Europe, with business deals of $5 billion (€4.5 billion) signed in 2014. The port of Piraeus is a key investment hub, with a Chinese company running two of the piers. China also has reported investment plans in an airport in Crete and shipbuilding.
