Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday met with the heads of Russia’s regions who were elected or re-elected to the State Duma in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
Putin underlined that “there will not be anything new in my saying that people associate you with their hopes, expectations that life changes for the better.” He also pointed out the priority goals and called on them “to focus on solving” the issues “that affect the well-being of each individual, each particular family.”
Among those who attended the meeting were Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, Head of Tula Region Alexei Dyumin, and Governor of the Transbaikal Territory Natalia Zhdanova.
On Sunday’s Unified Day of Voting the United Russia party, led by Prime Minister Medvedev, won 343 seats in Sunday’s vote, over 53 percent.
