19.09.2016
Clashes erupted between police and Ukrainian nationalists from the Right Sector outside the Russian consulate in Odessa on Sunday. A polling station was housed in the consulate for Russian nationals voting in the State Duma elections held that day.
The nationalist organisation reportedly attempted to block voters from entering the building leading to a brawl with the police present. Some activists were detained but no serious injuries were reported following the violence.
Voting took place at some 95,000 polling stations across Russia and 145 other countries. Preliminary results show that President Vladimir Putin’s party United Russia won a majority of nearly 50 percent.
