Russia: Putin praises Civic Chamber on 10th anniversary of its establishment

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on its tenth anniversary at the Kremlin in Moscow, Tuesday. Speaking to members of the Civic Chamber, Putin praised the Chamber for the quality of its expertise, which are revered by both "expert communities and government representatives." The president also pointed at the voluntary character of the Chamber's members' work requiring great commitment without "prospects of benefits and exemptions." The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation was founded in 2005, with the first session held on January 22, 2006. As a consultative oversight committee, ts main duties comprise analysis of draft legislation and monitoring activities of the governmental bodies of the Russia.
