Ukraine: Rada holds minute's silence over Kiev deaths

Ukrainian lawmakers held a minutes silence at the start of Tuesday’s Verkhova Rada session, a day after three servicemen were killed and over 100 people were injured when a combat grenade was thrown at security forces. Deputy Yuriy Bereza, a commander of the Dnipro Battalion, addressed the Rada after the minute's silence and called on Ukrainian lawmakers to “stop playing the sort of games” that cause mothers to bury their children. Clashes erupted earlier on Monday after around 1,000 nationalist and ultra-nationalist activists gathered outside the Rada to protest against a draft bill on constitutional changes that could grant greater autonomy to the Donbass region. Greater autonomy for Donbass was a key component of the Minsk agreements and granting special status to the region has been a central issue for the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine.
