Hundreds of Kurds rallied in the key border town of Kobane in north eastern Syria on Tuesday to condemn Turkey's ongoing military incursion in the region, as the five-day ceasefire drew to a close and a new agreement between Turkey and Russia comes into force.
Footage shows a huge crowd of protesters gathered in central Kobane bearing signs and photographs of those killed in the offensive.
Ankara's military offensive, dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring', began on October 9 with the stated aim of creating a 'safe zone' in north-eastern Syria by removing Kurdish forces, which Turkey regards as terrorists.
Turkey agreed to pause last week's assault and has now struck a deal with Russia over the conditions for the safe zone. Both sides will carry out joint border patrols while the Russian military will help facilitate the removal of Kurdish militia from the area.
