Indonesian authorities raised Bali's Mount Agung volcano alert status to a maximum and ordered people living in a radius of 10 kilometres (6 miles) from it to evacuate, as the volcano entered its eruption phase on Sunday.
Footage shows plumes of smoke billowing above Mount Agung, as the volcano kept spewing huge clouds of ash.
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, Bali's international airport has been closed for 24 hours and might reopen on Tuesday depending on the situation at that time.
The last major eruption of Mount Agung volcano dates back to 1963, with about 1,100 people killed during the natural disaster.
