Russian football fan 2 (English): "The weather is for us. I hope we will win."
Russian football fan 1 (English): "We love France but Russia is the best."
Russian football fan 2 (English): "About the game, the game is more important."
Russian football fan 1 (English): "The friendship between Russia and France."
A little more than 70 days until the start of Euro 2016, France and Russia played a friendly match on Tuesday evening at Paris’s Stade de France stadium.
Police officers, ambulance staff and members of the gendarmerie were on patrol in large numbers around the stadium, in response to the Brussels bomb attacks that killed 32 people and injured hundreds more last week, as well as the November 13 terror attacks in the French capital that killed 130 people.
Although fans attending the match said they were aware of the new security measures and their necessity, they were still excited for the match. One Russian football fan said, “Of course you think about the terrorist attacks but you're still waiting on a pleasant time. So you forget all the terrorist attacks. You think also about the sports.”
The match, the first to be held at the stadium since the Paris attacks that included explosions at the venue, kicked off at 21:00 local time (20:00 GMT).
