SOT, Joachim Loew, German national team coach (German): "These players have done a unique job in the past decade, when one sees through the time span of ten years, it is the most successful decade of German football. And we have shared unforgettable moments, so these players are for me and for all others, of high value. I am sure to extend my greatest thanks and emotions. The decision was unbelievably difficult for me. This is for me also a process, as we haven't thanked these players enough."

SOT, Joachim Loew, German national team coach (German): "These players are for me extremely important not only as footballers but also as people. And it's also logical that it will remain for the time. My task is just to decide and to make hard decisions. One must also decide for the future, so we have decided to give players with perspective the qualification and the space as well as to let them take the responsibility."

SOT, Joachim Loew, German national team coach (German): "Next week players will already bring their experience in international games as well as Champions League games with their clubs as well in U21 internationals. They've also been there for two or three years. Next week, we will definitely talk with them in person, what do I expect now in the future? Now I have more responsibilities for them, maybe not to hide them somewhere, but to show more that their willingness to become a national player, not just a regional player."

Germany manager Joachim Loew confirmed that he is planning Die Mannschaft's future without the Bayern Munich trio of Thomas Mueller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels, while speaking at a press conference in Frankfurt on Friday, saying it was an ''unbelievably difficult' decision.
"These players are extremely important for me, not only as footballers but also as people," Loew said. "My task is just to decide and to make hard decisions."
He said that the decision was taken with the future of the national team in mind.
Earlier in the week, Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan said the decision had surprised him and that he did not see it coming.
Loew then announced a new-look Germany squad for their upcoming international fixtures with the likes of RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann, Hertha Berlin midfielder Niklas Stark and Werder Bremen's forward Maximilian Eggestein all making the cut.
