Radir Ahmed, mother of a 20-month-old girl named Nur, described the situation she and her family are going through while stranded at the Idomeni refugee camp, Wednesday.
Little Nur was born with brain damage in Qamishli city in north-east Syria but since all the hospitals were destroyed in this area, she couldn't receive essential health care. According to her mother Radir, Nur received some medical treatment from French doctors which later wasn't available anywhere. Nur went also had one operation but two more are needed in order to lower the risk to her life.
This Kurdish family has now been stranded in Idomeni for almost one month and the health condition of little Nur is deteriorating, because of smoke and dust in the air.
Nur is among the estimated 6,000 children that are stranded in Idomeni at the Greek-Macedonian borders. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), there are more than 11,000 refugees currently in Idomeni. So far, only 640 people were relocated to camps in Veria and Katerini in northern Greece.
