Thousands of protesters gathered in the centre of Bratislava, on Monday, to call for the resignation of Slovakian Interior Minister Robert Kalinak, following a scandal in which a contact of his, entrepreneur Ladislav Basternak, was accused of fraud.
Protesters marched towards the Bonaparte complex, where Prime Minister Robert Fico and Interior Minister Robert Kalinak have apartments. Basternak owns the apartment complex. Fico has reportedly said that, should Basternak be proven to have committed any crime then he would move out of the building.
Monday’s protest was organised by opposition party OLANO, who are calling for further protests if Kalinak does not resign.
