Syria: SAA reports advances in northern Hama Governorate

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) announced that the town of Morek in the northern part of Hama Governorate is under their control, Saturday, according to media reports and its troops on the ground.
“Souran and Morek, the highway is under full control from Morek to Khan Sheikhoun, it is under the full control of the Syrian Arab Army. Mines and explosives were dismantled,” an officer in the Syrian military said.
Footage shot on Saturday shows derelict buildings and deserted streets in the town of Morek and Kafar Zita with soldiers and military hardware on its outskirts.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) the towns of Latamina, Kafar Zita, Latmin, Morek, M’aerkaba, and al-Lahaya in Hama's northern countryside are now under the SAA’s control.
Morek is home to a Turkish military observation point. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that the post would not be abandoned by Turkish forces.
The advances come in parallel with the SAA's recapture of the town of Khan Sheikhoun on Thursday. Syrian-led military operations were resumed in Hama and Idlib provinces earlier this month after the SAA accused militants of failing to abide by the conditions of a ceasefire declared on August 1.
