Staff from Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF, Doctors Without Borders) held a memorial outside St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London, Tuesday, to commemorate the victims of the US airstrike that mistakenly targetted an MSF field hospital in Kunduz on October 3. Speaking at the event Vickie Hawkins, the executive director of MSF said: "International humanitarian law exists to safeguard civilian life and medical facilities are protected facilities under humanitarian law so to target a hospital in this way is a very grave violation of that law." "Everybody knew exactly where our hospital was, we had handed over the GPS co-odinates of the hospital as recently as three or four days before the attack itself. So for us it's, for us we're lost, we're lost for words we don't have any answers, but we have to have answers, we have to have clarity," she added. At least 22 people were killed in the airstrike on a MSF field hospital, including dozens of doctors, seven adult patients and three children. Doctors Without Borders is an international non-profit organization, which is also known by its French name Medecins Sans Frontieres.
