Dozens of right-wing protesters scuffled with police during the LGBT pride march in Belgrade on Sunday.
"Now we see again this pederasty parade. Pederasty is an illness. There is no law that could change that fact," said a monk and anti-LGBT protester.
Anti-LGBT protesters gathered in the city centre and tried to break police barricades which protected the LGBT marchers. Protesters held crucifixes and anti-LGBT banners and laid on the ground chanting religious verses. Several people were arrested during the protest.
Meanwhile, the pride parade continued its march nearby. Serbia first openly gay Prime Minister Ana Brnabic was also in attendance and said "I am happy that from year to year it is easier to organise the pride and you know the other cities in Serbia are trying as well. I think Serbia is going in the right direction."
Brnabic joined the LGBTQ pride parade with her life partner, with whom she has a child, Dr. Milica Djurdjic as hundreds took to the street in a bid for acceptance and self-expression.
