Dozens of people took part in the Victory Day motor rally and Immortal Regiment march in Brisbane, Saturday, two days ahead of Russia's World War II Victory Day celebrations.
Commemorators marched through the city holding banners, pictures of relatives who fought and portraits of unknown veterans of the war.
The event was held under the motto "I remember and I'm proud!" and with the active support of the Russian community living in Australia and Russian consulate in Brisbane.
The Bessmertny Polk (Immortal Regiment) campaign is scheduled in dozens of cities throughout Russia and across the globe on the Victory Day to mark the 71th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War. Campaign participants march with a portrait of a relative or an unknown veteran of the war through the central streets of their cities. This year more than 10 million participants are expected to take part in the event, according to the Immortal Regiment co-chairman Sergei Lapenkov.
