British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero, seized by Iran on 19 July, 2019, is due to be released, according to an announcement by Iranian government spokesperson Ali Rabiei in Tehran on Monday.
Rabiei noted "The legal process of the [British-flagged] tanker has been completed and based on the peaceful view towards it, ignoring its mistakes, the British-flagged tanker is ready to be released and it can move."
Ahead of the 2019 United Nations General Assembly in New York City, Rabiei addressed current tensions between the US and Iran, stating that "if the US is ready to stop its sanctions and return to the conditions of the nuclear deal [JCPOA], the path will be opened for us to make the decision, negotiations can be regarded as such decision makings."
