Thousands of people from across Italy rallied in Rome, Saturday, to demonstrate against the government of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and its new labour reform package.
The protesters rallied at San Giovanni Square in central Rome and then proceeded marching towards the Colosseum.
Heeding calls voiced by trade unions and opposition parties, the protesters demanded that the government takes measures to safeguard workers' rights and boost growth and employment rates.
The protesters also expressed their disagreement with the forthcoming national referendum on constitutional reform, which is due to take place on December 4. The protesters held banners reading "Let's win the referendum with our 'no' - let's fight for Italexit," and "European Union, imperialistic beast."
Under the motto "No Renzi Day," hundreds of protesters across the country have demanded Renzi's resignation and called for new parliamentary elections. The Italian PM has recently been under fire over his decision to hold a national referendum on constitutional reforms.
