SOT, Jorge Arreaza Montserrat, Minister of People's Power for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish): "The planet has been a victim of the capitalist model and its consumption and production patterns; of its relationship to production processes associated with neoliberalism and of the kidnapping by finance of the world order. SOT, Jorge Arreaza Montserrat, Minister of People's Power for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish): "Even worse is the position of the United States of America, a country that with deep irresponsibility, being one - if not the main actor- participating in the world's climate conflict with an estimated 15 percent of [global] greenhouse gas emissions, it is today the main generator per capita and despite this it pretends to divert attention, and exclude itself from communal and collective policies."

"Humankind is still in danger of extinction, today more so than 27 years ago. Let's not change the climate, let's change the production model, let's change the system," said Jorge Arreaza Montserrat.
"The planet has been the victim of the capitalist model and its consumption and production patterns; of its relationship to processes of production associated with neoliberalism," the foreign minister stated.
He went on to slam the US for what he said was its self-exclusion from communal and collective policies aimed at combating damage to the environment. "It is today the main generator per capita [of greenhouse gas emissions] and despite this it pretends to divert attention, and exclude itself from communal and collective policies."
The COP25 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is being held from in Madrid December 2-13 under the Presidency of Chile with support from Spain.
