UK Prime Minister David Cameron spoke to the press outside 10 Downing Street, on Wednesday, before departing for Buckingham Palace to submit his resignation to Queen Elizabeth II.
Cameron used his speech to comment on some of his time in office, saying, “With the deficit cut by two thirds, two and a half million more people in work and one million more businesses, there can be no doubt that our economy is immeasurably stronger."
Leader of Conservative Party Theresa May is set to replace him to become the UK’s Prime Minister. During his speech, Cameron expressed confidence in the soon-to-be PM. He said, “I am delighted that for the second time in British history, the new Prime Minister will be a woman and once again a Conservative. I believe Theresa will provide strong and stable leadership, in fulfilling the Conservative manifesto on which we were elected.”
David Cameron announced that he would resign as prime minister on June 26, after Britain voted in a referendum to leave the European Union.
