05.09.2015
About 600 pro-refugee activists gathered in the town of Wuppertal, Saturday, to show their solidarity with refugees and stand together against far-right extremism and xenophobia. The activists carried placards reading 'Wuppertal has no space for right extremism' and 'We are colourful and refugees are welcome,' as well as "Stop Racism, Save Human Rights.' Protesters chanted slogans including "Stop Racism. Save Human Rights," condemning anti-refugee, far-right protest that also was in town. There was a large police presence on hand at the march to prevent the pro-refugee activists from clashing with the far-fight counter protesters, however, no incidents were recorded by local authorities.
