Germany: 'No to German NSA' - Activists protest mass surveillance bill in Berlin

20.10.2016
Dozens of activists gathered at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Thursday, in protest against the German security service [BND] law reform, with activists compared to the US's National Security Service (NSA).
The activists, including Reporters Without Borders executive Christian Mihr, had their mouths sealed with duct tape and held banners denouncing German lawmakers' efforts to create what they say they consider the "German NSA." The demo was organised by Reporters Without Borders, Amnesty International and other human rights organisations.
If passed on Friday, the new law would create a legal basis for the German Security Service (BND) to collect the communication data of German citizens on a mass scale.
