Anti-government protesters were seen clashing with police on the streets of Santiago on Tuesday as demonstrations which have claimed the lives of at least 15 people entered their 5th day.
Footage shows police attempting to disperse protesters with water cannons and tear gas and huge crowds of demonstrators thronged in the center of the Chilean capital bearing signs calling for the resignation of President Sebastian Pinera.
The current wave of demonstrations, which is considered to be the worst in decades, was sparked by a now-suspended metro fare hike. The demonstrations have since evolved into a movement with wider grievances aimed at addressing the rising cost of living, pension reform and police conduct during demonstrations.
