Thousands displaced by heavy fighting between government and opposition forces in Syria’s Hama Province have headed towards the city of Hama to receive aid and shelter. Footage shot in the city on Wednesday shows Red Crescent workers handing out blankets and boxes of supplies to families.
The United Nations estimates that since the end of August, some 100,000 people have been displaced in the province of Hama. Around 35,000 people have reportedly received supplies from the Red Crescent in Hama.
"There is full cooperation between the Red Crescent in Hama and the Syrian government and all other organisations," a Red Crescent worker said on Wednesday. "We have helped the biggest number of the displaced people. We are working day and night to help the displaced people from the northern countryside of Hama, citizens who moved to Hama city," he added.
