SOT, journalist (English): "Any news on that front?"
SOT, Heather Nauert, State Department Spokesperson (English): "I have no new news for you on the case of Pastor Brunson."
State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said there were 'no new news' on the release of US Pastor Andrew Brunson, speaking from Washington DC on Tuesday, but assured that 'conversations continue' with Turkey.
"We hope to have him brought back very soon," said Nauert, "We have long said that that is long overdue. We look forward to that taking place."
Nauert also confirmed that US diplomat Jeffrey Hovenier met with Brunson during the day, but did not go into detail of the contents of the meeting.
The pastor was arrested two years ago over alleged links to the outlawed Kurdish PKK party and to the Fetullah Gulen movement, which Turkey claims was behind the 2016 attempted coup.
