SOT, Regina Katerndahl, Second representative of IG Metall Berlin (German): "Therefore we want to give Siemens a signal and say we support the negotiators to be able to make a good deal. So, dear citizens of Spandau, if the jobs go at Siemens, then you are threatened because the retail sector is in danger and then there will be families with ever less money, so it's good if we stand and remain together.''

SOT, Norbert Karbach, Protester (German): "What's being protested against here? We are protesting against the fact that, in principal Siemens is getting rid of over 80,000 jobs. In the next four or five years, 80,000 people worldwide will be shown the door. That will be phrased differently depending on who you ask but that's what is happening.''
C/U Banner (German): "We could be the 470" *CUTAWAY*
SOT, Helmut Kleebank, Mayor of Spandau (German): "Today is about the colleagues and giving them courage for the negotiations on Monday and Tuesday, to give them good conditions to stop the restructuring of Siemens."

Hundreds of protesters, including Siemens employees and members of the IG Metall Berlin Union, marched in the streets of Berlin on Thursday, to protest the job cuts announced by the German multinational conglomerate company Siemens.
Protesters took off from Nonnendammallee, before reaching Jakob-Kaiser-Platz, where speeches were held.
The demonstrators were seen marching with banners reading "470 jobs fall victim to the future" and "We could be the 470."
Helmut Kleebank, the mayor of the Spandau district, was present on site to show support and said that "today is about the colleagues and giving them courage for the negotiations on Monday and Tuesday, to give them good conditions to stop the restructuring of Siemens."
Siemens reportedly announced earlier this year that 470 workers from the "Gas and Power" branch will be laid off, following the company’s decision to downsize.
