Kurdish women who were captured and held by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in Iraq spoke of horrific accounts of torture and cruelty during a roundtable gathering in Moscow on Thursday.
Commenting on her ordeal, Ikhlas Baago, an ex-prisoner of IS in Iraq, said that "It is impossible to express in words, everything that ISIS did with us," adding that "what is broadcast on TV is just a small part of what they actually did."
Baago went on to recall how the militant group "destroyed our villages" and captured "95 percent of our men." She added that "IS said that they would kill them if they did not convert. But the men did not betray their religion and the terrorists killed them all."
The gathering focused on the struggle of Kurdish women against the Islamic State and attracted figures from Syria, Turkey, Iraq and from across Europe.
