Vegan activists in Paris staged a crime scene in Igor Stravinsky square on Wednesday, to protest meat consumption and raise public awareness on World Vegan Day.
Members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organisation (PETA) staged the performance, where people lay on the ground within chalk outlines of dead animals and fake blood spilt over them in a simulated crime scene.
"We are mainly trying to challenge the public to consider more what they put on their plate and remember that these [animals] are sensitive and intelligent individuals just like us" the spokesperson of Peta animal protection association Isabelle Goetz.
Protesters also held pictures of animals in the slaughterhouse and signs with the message 'Killing is a crime- We don't eat animals.'
