President of the Republic of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov along with delegations from Saudia Arabia, the UAE and Jordan attended the opening of the biggest mosque in Europe in the town of Shali on Friday.
More than 200 guests from 43 countries took part in the inauguration ceremony of 'The Pride of Muslims' Mosque, which is located some 35 kilometres (22 miles) from the Chechen capital Grozny. The mosque is said to have a capacity of 20,000 seating worshippers and 100,000 standing.
Construction of the mosque began in 2012, and it is dedicated to former Chechen leader Akhmad Kadyrov, father of the current leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
