Thousands paraded during LA pride day on Sunday in Los Angeles, Sunday, despite an attack on a LGBT club in Orlando, early on Sunday morning, that left at least 50 dead and 53 injured. In addition, Los Angeles police department confirmed that they arrested a man with an "assault weapon, multiple ammunition an assault gun and some explosives" in Santa Monica who said to be going to the West Hollywood gay parade.
Chief of Los Angeles Police Department Charlie Beck stated that police didn't "see any connection at this point" with the Orlando attacks but recognised that they have deployed "additional security at various venues such as the LA pride parade."
Beck added that "California is always a prime target so there is always a threat overhear but it is important to know that there is no specific threats in California or Los Angeles".
Omar Siddiqui Mateen, a US citizen of Afghan descent living in Port St. Lucie, has been identified as the attacker at the LGBT nightclub Pulse in Orlando, but was killed during the SWAT operation to stop the assailant.
US President Barack Obama has described the Orlando nightclub shooting as "an act of terror".
He added that "the FBI is on the scene and leading the investigation in partnership with local law enforcement."
