15.06.2018
A four-tonne football made of Tatarstan’s national chak-chak desert was eaten by football fans to celebrate the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Kazan on Friday.
The chak-chak football made in Kazan is said to be the largest of its kind in the world. Some 9,000 eggs, one tonne of flour and one tonne of honey were used to make the giant sweet, with the black parts of the “ball" being made using chocolate.
The feat was recorded in the Russian Book of Records, with the sweet then being cut into pieces and distributed to fans.
According to one of the chefs behind the football, it took 15 days to “prepare the dry ingredients, caramelise them, make the framework and train personnel.”
Kazan will host six World Cup matches: four group games as well as a round of 16 match and a quarter-final.
