Footage shows the aftermath of a Taliban suicide car bomb which was detonated close to several government buildings in Kabul, Tuesday, leaving at least 28 killed and more than 200 injured.
The explosion took place shortly before 09:00 (04:30 GMT) local time in the Wazir Akbar Khan neighbourhood of Kabul close to the presidential palace and US embassy. It is believed that the target of the blast was the offices of the Afghan Secret Service, responsible for protecting government officials, diplomats and VIPs. At least eight Afghan soldiers were injured during the blast.
Security forces rushed to the scene and a gunfight ensued with an unconfirmed number of attackers who attempted to enter the compound following the explosion. It is believed that the attack was part of the Taliban's spring offensive which the militant group announced on April 12.
