USA: Trump says congresswomen can go 'wherever they want'

Donald Trump, US President: "It's up to them. They can go wherever they want or they can stay, but they should love our country. They shouldn't hate our country. You look at what they've said, I have clips right here, the most vile, horrible statements about our country, about Israel, about others. It's up to them. They can do what they want. They can leave, they can stay, but they should love our country and they should work for the good of our country."

When the Democrats didn't want to mention the name of the congresswomen not so long ago, and what they did and the way they're treating Israel is a disgrace, but not only Israel. It's what they say about our country. It's my opinion they hate our country and that's not good. It's not acceptable. Thank you very much everybody."

US President Donald Trump continued to defend his tweet that four Democratic congresswomen should "go back" to their countries, saying they could go "wherever they want" at a cabinet meeting in the White House on Tuesday.
Asked by a reporter during a cabinet meeting where the Democratic representatives should go, Trump responded, "it's up to them."
"They can go wherever they want or they can stay, but they should love our country. They shouldn't hate our country," he continued.
The US President sparked controversy over the weekend with a series of tweets seemingly aimed at new Democratic congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar that were widely condemned as racist. He wrote that the representatives - three of whom were born in the US and all American citizens - should "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."
The president stood by his remarks, tweeting that he doesn't have a "racist bone" in his body.
The US House of Representatives later passed a resolution denouncing Mr Trump's "racist comments that have legitimised fear and hatred of New Americans and people of colour".
